meeting JM Ken Niimura

i had the pleasure to meet Ken in Madrid before i start this project, so we said, lets meet in Tokyo again! and we did it, more then once, but last saturday we were more concenctrated and he painted on my travelbook his version of Pablo, the traveller, based on my stories in Japan, i mean, “pablo in wonderland”.

he gave me also his latest comicbook called I KILL GIANTS as a present (such an honor), edited in America, UNA JOYITA!

and here is the mini interview:

-Where are you from and where do you live right now (city)?
I was born in Madrid (Spain) and right now I live in Tokyo.

-How does the city you live in influence your work?
My daily life’s almost the same wherever I am, but it’s the moment when I go out that changes it all. That’s why its so much fun to live in different places.

-Would you consider your work as part of an asian style?
Certainly, as I’ve been in touch with the japanese culture since I was born.

-Any Asian favourite artists?
I’m recently very much into Asakura Sekaiichi, Hanakuma Yuusaku or Matsumoto Taiyou, just to name a few.

-Are you familiar with european/american illustration? if so, can you tell me some artists that you like?
Kerascoët, Christophe Blain, David Prudhomme, Blutch…

-What do you think about travelling?
It’s a mind set that I share in so many ways. You could say I’ve been on a huge trip for the las 7 years.

-if you were an animal, which one would you like to be? and why?
I AM an animal.

-Bruce Lee or Chuck Norris?
Pablo Ientile.

Thanks Ken! i hope we can draw together again!
